The name “chia seeds” is very popular these days and I’m sure many of you may have heard of it. But why are these seeds so popular? What the hell is all this hype about drinking chia water?
Well, maybe you can try drinking chia water for a few weeks and then you’ll find out!
But before that, this article will tell you how good chia water is for your body and how you should drink it so you can be confident that this drink is indeed the one for you!
What are chia seeds?
Chia seeds are small edible flat oval black-gray seeds extracted from flowering plants of the mint family.
They are tasteless. These seeds have become very popular over the years and are often used in food or eaten for their many health benefits.
They are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and contain essential minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, zinc and magnesium.

How to make Chia Seed Water?
Add 2 teaspoons of chia seeds to 2 cups of water or coconut water and let sit for 30 minutes or overnight. You will soon notice that the chia seeds have swelled and doubled in size. At this point the chia seed water is ready to drink. OPTIONAL – Squeeze some lemon juice and add some honey or any other sweetener of choice.
You will find that the chia seeds settle at the bottom of the bottle, so shake the chia water bottle every time you drink it.
How often and when should I drink chia water?
- You can drink chia seed water daily (but limit your intake to 2 tablespoons of chia seeds per day).
- You can drink a glass of chia water in the morning on an empty stomach or after a meal.
- Another way you can drink chia water is to sip it multiple times a day (once you’ve made a liter of chia water as suggested above).
